The Reverend Aubrey
R. Jones Memorial Scholarship
The Rev. Aubrey R. Jones was Senior
Minister at Centenary from 1954-1962.
A dedicated pastor, an outstanding
preacher, he was a non-traditionalist, noted for his multi-media
evening services, his CHML Pastor's Study radio program, his
Dial-a-Thought messages, and his Lectures on the U.S.S.R.
He was made a member of the Order of
the British Empire in recognition of his distinguished war record,
serving as a YMCA supervisor with the Canadian Bomber Command in
Yorkshire, England.
His sudden premature death, January 9,
1962, saddened both his beloved Centenary congregation and the wider
community.
In 1994 his contribution was further
recognized by his induction posthumously into the Hamilton Gallery
of Distinction.
