THE REVEREND GEORGE SOUTAR AWARD

The Reverend George Soutar served as Senior Minister at Centenary United Church, Hamilton, 1962-1979.

A dedicated pastor, an avid reader, he was a scholar and an educator noted for his teaching in the church.

He also taught comparative religion courses in schools and Community College.

Prior to his ministry at Centenary, he ministered for several years in Northern Ontario as well as serving as a Navy Chaplain.

His premature death, December 7, 1979 saddened both his beloved Centenary congregation and the wider community.

This award was established in order to recognize the Reverend Soutar's excellence and scholarship.

It is awarded for highest standing in general proficiency upon completion of thirty credits at Emmanuel College.
